MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRPERSON

Advancing as a global arts platform where art and industry grow together

Esteemed members of the World Art Federation and artists in Korea and around the world who cherish culture and the arts: I am Lee Youngjun, newly inaugurated as the federation's eighth chairperson. Since taking its first step in 2003, the federation has worked steadily to advance the visual arts and build a global arts network. I offer my deepest respect and gratitude to the former chairpersons, officers and members whose dedication has shaped its history and credibility.

The cultural and artistic environment is changing faster than ever. Technological progress and expanding global networks are dissolving boundaries in art and asking artists to embrace change and innovation. As I begin my term, I declare that the World Art Federation will grow into a global cultural platform where traditional art and advanced digital practice come together and where art and industry reinforce one another.

During my term, we will faithfully pursue the federation's founding purpose through the following core missions.

First, we will build a global chapter network that connects the world through art. Working with established cultural networks—including the overseas branches of Sasaek-ui Hyanggi, the Eurasia Peace Expedition network and the International Association of Art's 72 member countries—we will establish 1,000 WAF chapters in major cities in stages. This foundation will support recurring international competitions and cultural exchanges while creating more opportunities for Korean artists abroad.

Second, we will create a sustainable arts ecosystem by combining advanced technology with the enduring value of traditional art. We will bring fine art together with AI, design, media art and other emerging fields, develop online and offline markets for art in everyday life, create cultural-industry content, protect artists' rights and cultivate professional talent.

Third, through strategic cooperation with the Artpiad Committee (AAC and WAC), we will help realise Artpiad's vision. The federation will contribute its capabilities to reviving the Art Olympics and play an important role in creating a forum where artists from around the world communicate and exchange through creative work.

Esteemed artists and members around the world,

Although this is an untravelled path, I will take on the challenge with joy. I am confident that walking it together will allow us to write new history. I will devote the experience and passion gained through 23 years of cultural sharing and social contribution to building a dynamic federation where art and industry interact vigorously. I ask for your warm interest and encouragement as the World Art Federation moves from Korea towards the world.

Thank you.

Lee Youngjun, Eighth Chairperson, World Art Federation
