Esteemed members of the World Arts Federation, and artists around the world who cherish arts and culture! I am Lee YoungJoon, newly inaugurated as the eighth chairperson of the World Arts Federation (WAF), which has worked continuously since taking its first step in 2003 to advance the arts and build a global arts network. I offer my deepest respect and gratitude to the former chairpersons and officers who built WAF's history and credibility, and to every member who has steadfastly pursued the passion to create.
As you know, today's arts and cultural environment is changing more rapidly than ever. Technological advances and the expansion of global networks are dissolving the boundaries of art and calling on artists and cultural practitioners to embrace change and innovation. As I take office, I wish to formally declare that WAF will advance as a global arts and cultural platform where art and industry reinforce one another, encompassing both traditional art and cutting-edge digital art.
Throughout my term, I will faithfully fulfil the Federation's founding purpose and put the following core missions into concrete action.
First, we will build a global chapter network that connects the world through art. By linking with proven global arts and cultural infrastructure—including Sasaek-ui Hyanggi's 80 overseas branches, the Eurasia Peace Expedition's network of 100 cities in 29 countries, and the International Association of Art's 72 member countries—we will establish 1,000 WAF chapters in major cities around the world in stages. On this foundation, we will hold world-scale competitions and cultural exchanges regularly and serve as a gateway for artists from around the world to advance internationally.
Second, we will create a sustainable arts ecosystem by combining advanced technology with the value of each city's traditional art in a virtuous cycle. We will generate synergy by bringing the inherent value of fine art together with emerging fields such as AI, design and media art. We will also develop an online and offline market for art in everyday life where everyone can enjoy art together, create arts content connected with the cultural industry, protect the rights and interests of artists worldwide, and cultivate professional talent.
Third, through a strategic partnership with the Artpiad Committee (AAC and WAC), we will do everything possible to help realise Artpiad's vision. WAF will contribute its full capabilities to reviving the Art Olympics, Artpiad's ultimate goal, and play an important role in creating a forum where artists from around the world communicate and exchange through creative work.

Although this is a path not yet travelled, I will embrace the challenge with joy. I am confident that, if we can walk it together, we can write a new chapter in history. I will devote the experience and passion I have gained through 23 years of cultural sharing and social contribution to building a dynamic, living federation where art and industry engage actively with one another. I ask for your warm interest and encouragement as the World Arts Federation begins this hopeful journey together with artists from around the world.
